Born in Rome in 1960, Fantini has built an eclectic career in the art world, spanning dance, acting, photography, painting, and sculpture. He lived abroad for 14 years, particularly in Asia and Tibet—experiences that profoundly influenced his artistic imagery. Since 2000, he has returned to live and work in Rome. His most recent works mark a return to the archetypes that have always permeated his poetics: faceless red-haired adolescents and subjects inspired by the natural world—animals, trees, and plants. These stylized figures, despite their apparent simplicity, express a deep and often enigmatic inner state.
The lightness and vitality of his characters are intertwined with barely perceptible elements of restlessness, creating an evocative balance. Fantini utilizes a layered technique that merges painting and collage, juxtaposing materials such as brocade fabrics, Japanese paper, old maps, and ancient manuscripts. He favors acrylic and graphite on textile supports, developing tactile surfaces upon which he constructs his figures through a meticulous process of selection, composition, and synthesis.
His “hybrid creations,” created by merging anatomical elements from diverse sources, narrate a personal and symbolic vision of childhood, adolescence, and identity. His style is unmistakable: anonymous yet expressive faces, fiery red hair, intense colors, and a profound compositional harmony. His works, exhibited and acclaimed both in Italy and abroad, stand out for their authenticity and emotional intensity, establishing a direct and lasting bond with the viewer.
